Interfaith Dinner 2015

Syracuse interfaith community shared an Iftar dinner—the evening meal that breaks daily fasting during the Muslim season of Ramadan. The event was sponsored by North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC), Interfaith Works of Central New York, and Turkish Cultural Center of Syracuse (TCCS) .

Over 70 people of different faiths enjoyed the food and fellowship. Tim Saka, director of said:”Ramadan is reminding us about the needs of others ” in his short speech. After enjoying the home-made Turkish dinner, story teller Jim Brule shared an inspirational story about Prophet Elijah.

Ramadan is celebrated in the ninth lunar month of the calendar used my Muslims, a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and charitable outreach to those in need. TCCS also invited non-Muslims to Ramadan dinners at homes of the members as a way to build bridges and cultivate friendships in a multicultural society.
