Cooking Class at the Alley Pond Environmental Center

In order to better engage with different communities, Turkish Cultural Center Queens’ cooking class instructor Mrs. Sila Asa began to volunteer in different organizations to provide cooking classes. On October 15, 2015, Mrs. Sila Asa offered a cooking class as a volunteer at the Alley Pond Environmental Center. The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and water bodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

The menu of the night was White Rice with Orzo, Cauliflower Fritters and Chicken Sauté. Attendees were pleased to learn about different kinds of foods and were delighted to communicate with one another. It was a very lovely environment where everyone learned about each other and talked about different topics while watching the instructor. Instructor Sila taught everything specifically and suggested certain tips while cooking.
